A day full of highs and lows!

Dear friends and family,

Today was a day full of highs and lows and we have moved forward! Let me start by sharing the highs. We went for our blood work and first ultrasound today at 8:00 this morning! Everything has checked out beautifully!! First, I went in for my blood work and it was a great and easy stick! Something I have prayed for! We then went upstairs for the ultrasound. When they went into the ultrasound they were looking to find follicles. The technician said they look for about 8-10 follicles in each ovary. According to the technician I have 8 follicles in my right ovary and 9 follicles in my left ovary!!! This is GREAT news!! The follicles is what my eggs can grow into SO there are lots of chances to grow!! My blood work results matched where I should be, so my dr. gave me the ok to begin Clomid. So, tonight I took my first one, and I will be taking one every evening until Saturday. When Rob and I were in the ultrasound room they gave me a picture of the little follicles. I know they are hard to see but I still loved that I got a picture :)

There were also some lows! Yesterday at 4:30 pm I got a voice mail from REACH saying that I owed around $950 for this IUI. This caught me so off guard as I was tutoring at the time and didn't expect that I owed anything!! When I called her back around 5:00 (after a bathroom trip to hear the message) she said that we were NOT covered and I knew that wasn't right!  So I left tutoring in an emergency to go sit in the car and call my insurance to find out what was going on! When I called my insurance last month to verify that we were in fact still covered for an IUI they said yes, you are covered at 100% AND when I called again yesterday they said "yes you are covered at 100% for 3 lifetime rounds". This is what I expected to hear and I asked the girl to fax everything over to the office so I wouldn't have to worry about it the next day. So we went in to the office this morning and found out that in fact we were NOT covered and we owed a lot of money!! Well Rob and I were shocked!! So we talked to a financial counselor and she said that insurance does this to people ALL THE TIME! The reason they said we were covered is because IUI usually doesn't include a donor sperm. BUT ours did SO they didn't cover it! We did find out that part of the IUI was going to be covered but we still had to pay $564 out of our pocket today OR they wouldn't do the procedure. So of course we went on with it and payed the amount knowing that the LORD would provide it. We have to keep reminding ourselves that God has given me this healthy body and we are SO thankful that I am still able to carry a child. It was crazy amazing to see all of the follicles that are growing inside, knowing that one day one of those could lead to grow our future family.

Rob and I have created a Go Fund Me account which has enabled anyone who has the desire to financially travel this road with us.

Ways to pray:
- Pray that the Clomid does not have very many side effects
- Pray that the Lord will provide
- Pray that I will be stress free over the next few weeks
- Rob has finals coming up and he's under a lot of stress! Please pray for Rob :)

We love you all so much and appreciate all of your prayers.

Love,
Rob and Natalie

  1. When you said, "downs" you scared me! I'm sorry to hear about the insurance flop, but out of all this process, $564 is among the least complicated of possible problems :-) God is good!
